By making it here, the news has reached you that DBDesigns is launching a clothing brand.  I’m here to shut this idea down as soon as possible.  DBDesigns isn’t just launching a clothing brand — it’s launching a mission. A movement.

There are plenty of online clothing stores created by social media influencers just to make a quick buck. But DBDesigns is about empowerment, not profit.

Society is engineered to silence the individual, to turn us all into sheep, living within our hamster wheels of habit. But within each person is a spark. The people who see this spark, who feel it, and who nurture it are the ones who go on to do something amazing.

They say that any successful business requires a reason. Why should someone wake up and put thousands of hours of work into something?

I believe I can help people break out of their hamster wheel, to do more, achieve more, and be more. I’m not here to sell you a shirt. I’m here to help you be special, be unique, and be yourself.

At this point, if you’re still reading, hopefully, I’ve piqued your interest.

But you’re probably wondering how this relates to a store selling shirts.

In my life, I’ve been on an exponentially upward trajectory in terms of discovering my own identity. Just two years ago, my parents enforced a 2-sentence rule (whatever I said, I had to speak at least two sentences) because of how quiet and introverted I had become. Now, I’ve been president of a university club, spoken to audiences in the thousands, and started my own business. Quite a drastic change.

I’ve learned many things in the past two years, but one of the biggest was that your internal and external perceptions are linked.

What I mean is that if you take care of how you appear externally, you trick your brain into taking more care of yourself internally.

Personally, I started taking care of my appearance. I grew out my hair. I figured out my personal style with clothes. People started respecting me more. They saw me as someone with higher value simply because I started acting like someone with higher value.

While this has been my personal experience, it’s not something that only happened to me. Everyone will go through some form of an identity crisis as they grow. It’s part of the journey of self-discovery. My mission is to help people come out of this process as an individual, with their own passions, beliefs, and goals.

By purchasing a shirt made by DBDesigns, you’re saying not only to society but crucially, to yourself that you deserve to stand out. You deserve to be the beacon of color amongst the abyss of greys, whites, and blacks. You deserve to be in the foreground while everyone else tries their best to blend into the background.

If we can inspire even one person to begin this journey of self-discovery, leading to a beautiful, strong, and inspirational new life, imagine how many lives could be saved from the greys, whites, and blacks of modern life.

To me, that is empowerment.
